Quandary made by M<ack: What is considered a professional camera?
I am going to a concert and on the ticket is says “No professional cameras” I could be a professional photographer with a disposible camera…would that then be considred a professional camera? The camera I am bringing is a Canon Rebel XT with a Canon Zoom Telephoto lens. They will let me in with that….right?

Any DSLR would be considered a professional camera.
Any SLR would be considered a professional camera.
Nikon’s and Canon’s DSLR’s are defiantly professional cameras.
Compact and Ultra-compact point and shoot cameras usually are not considered professional cameras.

maybe, maybe not
if your “zoom telephoto” looks like a long enough lens to allow you to take decent pics from the floor, they won’t let you in.
bring a point-n-shoot and you won’t have a problem

the Xt is definitely not a “professional camera” in the technical sense, although many very good photographers use it and many pictures from the camera are published. Canon calls the xt a Pro-sumer camera, but if the concert people wanna be a pain in the a**, they could say it’s a pro camera, especially if you’ve got one of those long white canon lenses.

Here is a small portion of the old film cameras in our house. Many of them are fully functional if you have the correct film. I do them a great disservice by not taking the time to photograph them in the way they deserve.
