The laws differ based on where you are located. In general, unrestricted filming is allowed while on freely accessible public property and right-of-ways where the subject being filmed is in plain view and has no expectation of privacy. Filming on private properties requires the permission of the property owner or manager.

In the US one can legally film anyone or anywhere there is “no expectation of privacy.” That’s pretty much common sense. Your own home is private, plus anywhere it is legal to remove ones clothing: restrooms, locker rooms, dressing rooms, etc.

That includes all publicly accessible places, like stores and restaurants. However, the owner (or his or her agent, like security) can tell you to stop it, or leave, or both. If you don’t respect the signs that expressly forbid filming, you can be cited for trespassing in many jurisdictions.

There’s a grey area one avoids. Don’t film where people have a *sorta* privacy expectation, like a private event, or a members only club, without permission of the hosts. And don’t film in places of respect, like a medical facility or a convalescent or funeral home, without permission of everyone present. And don’t film in places where it might be disruptive for others, like a solemn church service or a quiet library. It may not be illegal, but it’s very bad form.

Just be respectful, and you will do fine. Happy shooting! TURN OFF Gun Highwayyou CAMERA The exact law on public / private property taken for what? canonwaterproofcamerasreviews blogspot com
