Challenge from j.a_chapman: I received notice for unpaid traffic ticket but never actually received a ticket. What should I do?

I recently received a collections notice from a collections firm hired to collect unpaid traffic tickets in St. Louis. It said that I had an unpaid ticket from a “red-light camera”, but I’ve never received any such ticket in the mail. How do I challenge this?

I doubt you can.

If it was as easy as saying I never got a copy, how many people would simply throw their envelopes away and try that one in court.

Better pay it and not jeopardize your license.

You can’t. There are cameras on the corners with the traffic lights. This is how they caught you by viewing your license plate. You must pay it if you are the owner of the vehicle with this plate attached to it.

Call the police agency that got you on the camera. They can resend you the ticket or refer you to a website where you can view the picture of the offense and/or a video.

If no such ticket exists, then watch out for scammers posing as collections agencies collecting on stoplight tickets. Somebody might just be trying to get your credit card information or personal identity info. Don’t give them anything. I think the cops send several notices before they go into collections.

Ask to see picture and date and time of incident.Ask for a jury trial.Has anyone else driven your vehicle?you are responsible for your vehicle any time you loan it out if there is an accident and they leave the scene and there are witnesses and your tag number is reported you are responsible. This may be the case here.

It happened to me too, a couple of years ago. I had no idea there was speeding ticket in my name and I never received anything in the mail. That time I hired a traffic ticket attorney. He went after it and managed to reopen the case and finally we won in the court. He saved me a lot of time and money. His website is www.4MrTicket.com. Contact him before you do anything else.

Have any idea much better?
