Okay…So I just switched out my memory card for my digital camera and every time I turn it on it says “Card error!” I don’t know what to do… I tried plugging it into my computer but when I do that it just says “The computer cannot detect the scanner or camera” I really want to take photo’s tonight so if anyone has any clue on how to help me then I would really appreciate it! When was the last time your formatted your memory card? I’m guessing, never. So, turn your camera on and find the format feature in the Menu and try to format the memory card. Formatting deletes all files from the card, so make sure you don’t have important files that you want to keep.
If your camera won’t allow you to format the card…buy a new one (but make sure you format it before you use it the very first time). Your manual will show you how it’s done.

There are several possible causes for “memory card locked”, “memory card error”, or “no memory card”. The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card).
